“Trends in overall value, and YOY growth are in decline ... This is a strong signal that values may have peaked. However, prices are still extremely high compared to July 2020” David Robins, Principal Automotive Analyst at Canadian Black Book
Average wholesale prices for June 2022 are 29% higher than they were 12 months ago. 2022 began with January showing 44% year-over-year growth, with each preceding month bringing lower annual growth, and June is the lowest so far this year.

This Index offers an accurate, unbiased view of the strength of today’s used vehicle market values. In January 2005 Canadian Black Book (CBB) published a benchmark index value of 100.0 for the market.

Index value is calculated using CBB’s wholesale average value on 2 to 6 year-old vehicles, as a % of original MSRP. It is weighted based on registration volume and adjusted for seasonality, vehicle age, mileage, and condition.
