Every month Canadian Black Book releases their key benchmarking KPI, the Used Vehicle Retention Index.
 
July's Index marks the 1st decline since June of last year
  • July was -0.3% down from June
  • June hit an all-time record high of 125.1 after:
    • 12 consecutive months of increases
    • 10 straight months of all-time record highs

This Index offers an accurate, unbiased view of the strength of today’s used vehicle market values. In January 2005 Canadian Black Book (CBB) published a benchmark index value of 100.0 for the market.

Index value is calculated using CBB’s wholesale average value on 2 to 6 year-old vehicles, as a % of original MSRP. It is then weighted based on several factors.
