F-150 Lightning All-Electric Pickup

May 19, 2021
Today Ford revealed the new 2022 F-150 Lightning BEV pickup truck at its Michigan headquarters in an outdoor multi-media presentation. It is a segment-defining all-electric pickup that will change the way fleets look at their pickup trucks. EV glossary
On the performance side, Ford says the Lightning will produce 563 hp and targeted torque of 775 lb.-ft., with a zero-100 km/hr time of about 4 seconds.
"It's quicker than a Raptor," Ford President and CEO Jim Farley

The Lightning will debut as a 4-door SuperCrew with a 5.5-ft bed and will be available with 2 battery options: either a standard-range (370 km) or extended-range (483 km) battery.

A commercial-oriented entry-level model will come with an MSRP of CAD $58,000, and the XLT model will start at CAD $68,000.

F-150s outfitted with the standard battery have a maximum payload of 2,000 lbs (907 kg) and a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs (3,493 kg). Extended-range versions outfitted with the Max Trailer Tow package option are 1,800 lbs (816 kg) and 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg), respectively.
Mega Power Frunk
This cavernous, lockable space boasts 400 litres of volume and 181 kg of payload and is equipped with 4 electrical outlets, 2 USB chargers, and a drainable floor.
Ford Intelligent Backup Power

Making its debut is the optional Intelligent Backup Power system, which turns the truck into a power source in case of a power outage. Based on an average 30kWh of use per day, Ford claims that the Lightning (with an extended-range battery) can provide full-home power for up to three days.

Onboard Scales
Onboard Scales, an available feature that uses the truck’s sensors to estimate payload and tell you how much you’re hauling. That’s important in an EV since payload impact ranges, and the system is integrated with Intelligent Range to help ensure F-150 Lightning gives an accurate estimate of how far you can go.
