No More License Plate Stickers
in Alberta

December 7, 2020
As of January 1st 2021, you no longer have to worry about putting an expiry sticker on your license plate. Alberta's move towards adopting reflective license plates aligns Alberta with other provinces and is expected to save taxpayers money.

The new plates have enhanced security features to cut down on fraud, and the elimination of stickers will end sticker theft and fraudulent stickers.
  • Vehicle owners will still be responsible for renewing their registration on time and will require a valid certificate of vehicle registration.
  • Stickers will still be required for farm vehicles and prorated commercial vehicles participating in the International Registration Plan.
